Sunsilk, the global haircare brand, launched an immersive gaming experience called Sunsilk City on the popular gaming platform, Roblox. The initiative aims to empower young women by challenging outdated gender stereotypes often found in games. Sunsilk City includes a variety of mini-games and online courses that aim to instill confidence, promote education, and foster creativity and self-expression among female gamers.
The virtual city is composed of several elements: "Sidewalk Superstars", which encourages players to prioritize education over domestic chores; "Blow Them Away", a game that combats toxic phrases and words typically used to belittle women; "The House of Hair", a platform for creativity and expression using Sunsilk's haircare line for advanced hairstyle customization; and "House of Skills", providing 20 free online courses to equip players with tangible real-world skills in partnership with Udemy. The courses aim to empower women by providing both soft and hard skills to help them achieve their dreams.
Sunsilk City attracted 50.9 million visits, received 152,164 favorites, and 90%+ upvotes, making it the third highest-rated brand experience in Roblox. Influencers were instrumental in promoting the Sunsilk City, with the campaign executed through Unilever's existing influencer network.

Once you've spawned into Sunsilk City, familiarize yourself with the menu on the left side of your screen. At the bottom of this menu should be a green Map icon—click this icon to open your map.
With the map open, you should see a variety of UGC hair icons. Clicking on any of these icons will track its location, giving you an arrow to follow so that you don't get lost. To unlock the Wavy Brown Curls With Pink, select its icon from the map—it can be found next to the text Sidewalk Superstars. Follow the directional arrow to the Sidewalk Superstars minigame location.
To play this minigame, walk into the glowing circle and wait for the queue countdown to end. Once inside the minigame, you'll be asked to select a job and maneuver through a Temple Run-style course while collecting various items.
After you, and all of the other players in your lobby, have reached the end of the course, you'll be awarded the Wavy Brown Curls With Pink item!
After claiming the Wavy Brown Curls With Pink, open your map again, look for the text that says Dreamcatcher, and click on the Short Black Braids With Flowers hairstyle next to it. Follow the directional arrow until you reach the Dreamcatcher minigame pictured below.
To join this minigame, walk onto the platform that's behind the Dreamcatcher sign and press E.
Once inside the minigame, earn points and XP by flying your hang glider into various white and pink bubbles. The more bubbles that you pop, the more points and XP that you will earn. In order to obtain the Short Black Braids With Flowers, you'll need to earn 10-15 points.
After collecting enough points, the minigame will end and you will unlock the Short Black Braids With Flowers!
To earn the Black Plats With Red Ribbon, leave the Dreamcatcher minigame, open your map, look for the House of Hair area, and select the Black Plats With Red Ribbon hairstyle that's to the right of it. Once selected, follow the directional arrow to the location below.
Walk under the House of Hair sign to enter its section of the map. In this section is the Salonista minigame and Hair Customization station. In order to earn the Black Plats With Red Ribbon, you'll need to play the Salonista minigame.
To play this minigame, simply walk into the salon building and press the Play button that appears. Upon doing so, the minigame will begin and you'll need to greet at least one customer, wash their hair with the shampoo of their choice, and style it the way that they request by trimming, curling, blowdrying, straightening, etc.
After successfully completing at least one customer, press the blue Leave Game button at any time to redeem your prize.
Luckily, the Black Curly Braids can be earned in the room directly to the left of the Salonista minigame—the Hair Customization room.
Enter this room, approach any open hair station, and press E to begin customizing your Robloxian's in-game hair.
Inside the customization menu, choose any hairstyle that you like and use the tools to change its color.
Once your hair has been customized to your liking, leave the menu to receive your Black Curly Braids prize.
To earn this UGC item, leave House of Hair, open your map, and select the Afro hairstyle. Once selected, follow the directional arrow to the location below.
To play this minigame, walk into the glowing circle and wait for the queue countdown to end. Once inside the minigame, you'll need to use a hairdryer to blow away toxic clouds and collect positive affirmation batteries to recharge when your confidence meter runs low.
After successfully blowing away at least one cloud, the minigame will end and you will earn the Afro UGC item!
