Hyundai Motor Company, in partnership with Netflix, has created a unique virtual experience in Zepeto, a global metaverse platform, linked to the new car chase movie "Seoul Vibe". The film is set during the 1988 Seoul Olympics and features various retro Hyundai models from the 1980s, including the first-generation Grandeur (Azera), Pony Pickup, Porter light truck, and old sedans like the second-generation Sonata, Stellar, and Cortina.
In the Zepeto virtual experience, Hyundai has recreated the garage shown in the film. Here, visitors can assemble and drive the iconic vehicles featured in the movie. This virtual space, called the "Seoul Vibe" driving zone, allows users to experience the retro models and engage in a dynamic driving environment. Furthermore, users can interact with Yoon-hee (Ju-hyun Park), a character from the movie, who appears as a non-player character (NPC) within the platform. Additionally, there's a vlog event, where users can feature the first-generation Grandeur, highlighting the car's significance and its pioneering status as Korea's flagship premium model.
The experience is a part of Hyundai's wider digital campaign targeting millennials and Gen Z consumers, aiming to highlight the "hipness" of Hyundai's retro models and connect the brand's past, present, and future. The company will also unveil a silhouette of the all-new Grandeur (Azera) through a cinematic digital advertisement tied to the "Seoul Vibe" movie, available through major digital channels like YouTube and Instagram.
